Soldiers of Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 56th Quarter Detachment, and 56th Troop Command, conduct water survival and wet silk training in preparation for a deliberate water jump, Sep. 5, 2025, Newport, RI. Training includes swimming in uniform with mock rifles and parachutes, practicing parachute harness removal, and navigating beneath a collapsed canopy. By learning to create an air pocket and safely swimming out from under the canopy, Soldiers built confidence in their ability to manage equipment and stay calm in the water. This exercise reinforces critical survival skills that enhance readiness and lethality, ensuring paratroopers are prepared for the challenges of waterborne operations.
