Special Operations Independent Duty Corpsmen (SOIDC) provide advanced, independent medical care to U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) in austere environments, serving as embedded medical experts for direct action, reconnaissance and unconventional warfare at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 16, 2025. SOIDCs are highly specialized U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, that are embedded, non-physician medical providers for elite special operations forces including MARSOC Raiders and SEALs.
