SFC (Ret.) Edward Smith, a 95-year-old Korean War veteran who served with the 2nd Engineer Battalion during the Battle of Kunu-ri in 1950, traveled from Reno, Nevada, to attend the Burning of the Colors Ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas. Smith shared his experiences from the Korean War, reflected on the battalion’s history, and spoke about the importance of honoring the legacy of the Soldiers who fought in one of the most defining moments of the unit’s lineage. During his visit, Smith and his wife, Betty, will also tour the 2nd Engineer Battalion memorial in Las Cruces, New Mexico, visit the Fort Bliss Cemetery, and join Soldiers for a Thanksgiving meal. This interview captures his reflections and memories. (U.S. Army Video by Sgt. 1st Class Alon Humphrey)
