U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 (MWSS-172), Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, partner with Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members with 1st Helicopter Brigade at a forward arming and refueling point during exercise Resolute Dragon 25 on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 15, 2025. MWSS-172 gave a FARP brief to JGSDF members to foster collaboration and ensure effective coordination during the exercise. Resolute Dragon is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of U.S. Marines in III Marine Expeditionary Force and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, with a focus on controlling and defending key maritime terrain.
