The Detroit Ranger District, located in the northern part of the Willamette National Forest, is still recovering from the 2020 Santiam Fire, a very large wildfire that burned in Marion, Jefferson, Linn, and Clackamas Counties, in northwest Oregon. Visitors are still able to recreate on Detroit Lake at the foot of Mt. Hood, despite the fire destroying the neighboring town of Detroit. (USDA Forest Service Video)
