U.S. Army Lt. Col. Cris Gasperini, battalion commander of 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, and U.S. Soldiers with the same unit assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), delivered a brief to New Mexico senators about day-to-day operations at the southern border near Santa Teresa, N.M, Aug. 18, 2025. The brief aimed to communicate the importance and strategic value of detection and monitoring operations and provide the senators an opportunity to visit the New Mexico National Defense Area. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
