U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, arm an AH-1Z Viper assigned to VMM 265 (Rein.), 31st MEU, with 20mm caliber ammunition and inert 2.75-inch rockets during a forward arming and refueling point exercise at Glen Airfield, Queensland, Australia, July 7, 2025. Marines loaded ordnance rapidly and tactically to exercise arming aircraft in a high-pressure environment, such as a FARP, in order to sustain technical and tactical proficiency. The 31st MEU is operating aboard the ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
