    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct forward arming and refueling point support operations aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), in the Coral Sea, June 23. Marines with VMM 265 (Rein.) enable FARP support flight operations by loading and transporting mission essential equipment. The FARP is a multi-discipline operation that increases the speed of maneuver for aerial operations, utilizing expeditionary advanced base operations, enhancing strike capabilities by decreasing the distance required for refueling and rearming while increasing the range of combined-joint all domain operation capabilities. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
