U.S. Air Force pilots conducted a commemorative flyover above Sainte-Mère-Église, France, June 6, 2025. The flyover honored the 81st anniversary of the D-Day landings and paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Allied forces that launched the historic liberation of Europe during World War II. Known as one of the first towns liberated by American paratroopers in 1944, Sainte-Mère-Église remains a powerful symbol of airborne legacy and enduring transatlantic partnership.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward stationed in Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build readiness and strengthen the alliance.
