A field renaming ceremony at U.S. Army Garrison Casey was held April 9, 2025, to honor U.S. Army First Lieutenant Thomas A. Lombardo who was killed in action during the Korean War. 1LT Lombardo lost his life while fighting the enemy on a hilltop near Chogye, South Korea, on September 24th, 1950. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal for his efforts. Maj. Gen. Charles T. Lombardo, commanding General of the 2nd Infantry RoK-U.S. Combined Division and nephew of 1LT Lombardo, provided closing remarks. (DoD video by Hana Pong)
