b-roll footage of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers debris removal teams facilitate Private Property Debris Removal operations in Western North Carolina, March 5, 2025. Following the catastrophic impacts of Hurricane Helene, USACE specialists collaborated with local county emergency management officials to collect and process Right-of-Entry forms, enabling crews to safely clear hazardous debris from residential parcels. As of March 6, the mission has successfully cleared more than 4.5 million cubic yards of debris across the region, part of a massive 6.1 million cubic yard total mission requirement. This high-priority effort, conducted under a Federal Emergency Management Agency mission assignment, is critical to mitigating long-term public safety risks and supporting the environmental and economic recovery of impacted Appalachian communities.
