    27th Special Operations Wing

    “Don’t wait. Go right now.”

Lt Merit Davey spent his entire enlisted career trying to become the “go-to guy” as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, even at the expense of his mental health.

For over 8 years he refused to seek help for depression, an eating disorder, and PTSD—in his eyes, he couldn’t risk losing the professional reputation he had worked so hard to achieve.

It took Merit reaching a breaking point in 2020 to finally seek out what he needed: the right care at the right time. Now, as a 27th SOW Public Affairs Officer, Merit tells his story and the stories of others to promote and demonstrate the importance of SOF Truth #1: Humans are more important than hardware.

Mental health IS health. If you need help, don’t wait any longer. We need you on the Line.
