Recently a DTRA Building Partner Capacity team traveled to Pristina, Kosovo to train and observe WMD response capabilities, and build regional interoperability of CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear) Response Companies from North Macedonia and Kosovo. The two units successfully completed a series of eight challenging scenarios involving response and remediation of chemical, biological, and radiological contamination.
In conjunction with this event, DTRA hosted the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in a Subject Matter Expert Exchange with environmental response stakeholders from 14 of Kosovo's interagency and security force organizations.
DTRA deployed a regional training equipment package to facilitate the simultaneous training and significant final event, where the two countries worked together to effectively respond to a complex WMD scenario. At the closing ceremony Kosovo’s Minister of Defense praised DTRA’s contribution in this important effort improving WMD and emergency response while building interoperability in the Balkan Region.
