Recruits participate in three drill assessments during boot camp at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Illinois. During this inspection, they are evaluated on their ability to perform proper drill formations and commands that are tailored to the pass-in-review ceremony. Boot camp is approximately 10 weeks and all enlistees in the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy’s only boot camp.
