The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Spencer has its main diesel engines removed as part of its Service Life Extension Program at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, November 8, 2023.
This was the first time the yard has ever removed an engine from a 270-foot cutter and did so with its new Luffing Crane that until now had only been load tested during its installation in 2022.
