Southern Vanguard is an annual exercise at the operational and tactical levels to increase interoperability between U.S and Western Hemisphere forces, in this instance, Brazil. SV24 took place in the cities of Belem, Macapa, and Oiapoque from Nov. 1 to Nov. 16, 2023. Southern Vanguard 24 is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored, U.S. Army South and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) conducted, combined air assault operation meant to demonstrate commitment to partner nations, rapid deployment capabilities, readiness improvement, and combined forces interoperability.
