U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Sarah Melton, noncommissioned officer in charge of customer support
from the 673d Force Support Squadron, speaks about the pre-deployment function line portion of
exercise Polar Force 24-2 on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Nov. 6, 2023. The PDF
line ensures personnel are properly equipped with government travel cards, valid identification,
dog tags, records of emergency data and other necessary deployment documentation. Polar Force
is a training exercise designed to test JBER’s mission readiness as well as honing Airmen’s skills
and techniques in a simulated expeditionary environment. The exercise also honed the base's
ability to mobilize and prepare personnel, aircraft and equipment for a wartime mission. (U.S.
