American service members and locals gathered for a D-Day 79 ceremony in Negreville, France, June 2, 2023. The ceremony commemorated a C-47 crash that occurred on June 6, 1944 after being struck by German artillery. Seventy-nine years later, the bravery and heroism of all Allies during World War II continues to resonate with U.S. forces in Europe – who remain steadfast in their commitment to the continent.
