Soldiers from the 249th Engineer Battalion visited Galveston, Texas April 19, 2023, and will visit more than 10 other counties along the Texas coast. The battalion Pre-Installation Inspections Teams assessed the power and generator capabilities in local government facilities for their use as emergency centers for FEMA in the event of a natural disaster. Commonly known as Prime Power, this unit is a versatile power generation battalion assigned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that provides commercial-level power to military units and federal relief organizations during full-spectrum operations.
