The 3rd Medical Command (Forward) hosts the Norwegian Foot March, or Marsjmerket, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, March 11, 2023. First held in 1915 as a test of marching endurance for Norwegian military soldiers, today's goal is to stimulate the general interest in marching over extended distances amongst military and civilian personnel. The event is a physical challenge that requires participants to march/run 30 kilometers or 18.6 miles with a rucksack containing 11 kilograms or 24 pounds. (U.S. Army video by Spc. Cecilia Soriano)
