Description: The Alaska National Guard partnered with the Salvation Army and community volunteers to bring the time-honored tradition of Operation Santa Claus to Minto, Alaska, Nov. 22, 2022. Operation Santa Claus is the AKNG’s annual community relations and support program that provides gifts to children in remote communities across the state. The program delivered 650 pounds of gifts, backpacks, hygiene supplies and books via a 168th Wing KC-135 Stratotanker from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to Eielson Air Force Base and then two Alaska Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopters to 65 children in Minto.
