U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Japan is the most geographically dispersed installation management command garrison in the world. The USAG Japan footprint spans nearly 1500 miles, from Aomori Prefecture in the north on the main island of Honshu, all the way to the southern island of Okinawa. The garrison is comprised of an innovative workforce team of 2200 diverse professional committed to enabling the operational readiness of U.S. Army in Japan, across all domains while providing modern, resilient and sustainable installations in support to our soldiers, families and civilians. The team provides exceptional installation services and support to the 12,000 person United States Army in Japan population, to strengthen mission readiness and enable a more resilient and secure community. We do that by following our core values of service, excellence and teamwork to SET the Standard. Service, be available to our community with consistency and compassion. Excellence, competence breeds confidence which leads to individual and organizational excellence. Teamwork, mutual trust creates purpose, innovation and commitment, which is a force multiplier. The services our team provides daily are crucial because U.S. Army Garrisons the Army’s epicenter, not only were soldiers live, but where they train, conduct the day-to-day business of the army, mobilize and even deploy from. Garrisons provide nearly all of the services of a typical American city, and our garrison teammates keep our city running every day, we keep the lights on, the traffic flowing and the community fed and housed, entertained and safe. Our 500 Directorate of Family Morale Welfare and Recreation employees focus on creating, delivery and communicating sustainable customer driven programs and services to enhance the readiness and wellbeing of our community.
