Loadmasters, from the 145th AW, operate the Legacy MAFFS system which drops 3000 gallons of water over the drop zone during the exercise runs. More than 400 civilian and military personnel gather in Greenville, S.C. April 26th to May 1st, 2010 for certification and recurrent training in the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) program. MAFFS is a partnership between federal land management agencies and the military to provide supplemental air tankers to assist in fire suppression efforts nationwide during times of high activity. Military units tasked with the MAFFS mission include the 145th AW, ANG from Charlotte, N.C., the 302nd AW, AFR from Colorado Springs, Colo., the 153rd AW, ANG from Cheyenne, Wyo., and the 146th AW, ANG from Point Hueneme, Calif.. video by Staff Sgt.
