U.S. Marines with 2d Marine Division receive training with the AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma and R80D SkyRaider small unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS) Feb. 22-25, 2022, at Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Atlantic, North Carolina. In accordance with the Commandant’s Force Design 2030, Infantry Battalion Experimentation (IBEX) Training Marines are integrating unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operators into 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, to operate SUAS. Each UAS operator briefed the other Marines before their flight and practiced manning the drones during the day and night to ensure they were properly trained to launch, navigate and land the SUAS.
