Retired U.S Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. Betty Morgan, 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, answered questions about her military career while sitting on a panel during a Black History Month celebration on base that honored the past and present accomplishments of Black Airmen from the 165th AW, Georgia Air National Guard on February 5, 2022, in Savannah, Ga. Morgan had many accomplishments while serving in the Air National Guard which included being the first female senior enlisted advisor for the 165th AW. She went on to become the first black Airman and the first woman to serve as the Command Chief Mater Sgt. in April 1997. She continued on to becoming the Command Chief for Georgia Air National Guard at the state level. This event was called "Connecting Legacies: Past, Present and Future" and the purpose was to highlight the many accomplishments of black Airmen, past and present, and the progress of diversity and inclusion within the Air Force and the 165th Airlift Wing.
