The fast response cutters being commissioned in the U.S. Coast Guard are named after a Coast Guard hero and are designed to carry out search and rescue, maritime illegal drug interdictions, illegal migrant interdictions, national defense and security, protection of living marine resources, and other Coast Guard missions.
