Take a calming wintery drive through the Allegheny National Forest with us! Longhouse Scenic Drive and Jakes Rocks Road offer beautiful views of the Kinzua Dam, the Allegheny River and other hidden gems nearby. But the snow covers potholes along 14 miles of scenic drive. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is partnering with the Allegheny National Forest to plan their rehabilitation. The roads will receive 18 million dollars in funding to mill and overlay pavement, address guide rails, trim brush, update overlook areas, rehab culverts, repaint stripes, update signs where needed, and more. Construction is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2022. Until then, enjoy this winter beauty, but watch for those potholes. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers video by Michel Sauret)
