10 years ago - the first RQ-4 Global Hawk arrived at Grand Forks Air Force Base assigned to Detachment 1 of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing based out of Beale AFB, California. Although the unit names have since changed, one thing that hasn't changed is the persistence of our Airmen. At any given moment in time, there are three global hawks in the sky, providing the Nation's leaders with the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance they need to protect our country. Major Jesse Vela and Senior Airman Devon Newton briefly detail their roles in this vital mission.
