A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka crew assisted the Alaska State Troopers rescue two people, June 19, 2021.
An Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted two people out of Gilkey River, approximately three miles from Gilkey Glacier, and transported them to Alaska State Troopers in Juneau.
The Alaska State Troopers requested air assistance after they received the report of an overturned skiff in swift water with multiple large rocks downstream.
The aircrew hoisted one survivor from the overturned boat, and then hoisted the other survivor that was able to swim to shore.
