U.S. Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) fire an M2HB machine gun while underway in the Pacific Ocean on Dec. 5, 2020. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 15th MEU provide numbered fleet and combatant commanders with a responsive, flexible and forward-deployed asset capable of maritime power projection, contingency operations and crisis response.
