Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, Romania – U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz’s site in Romania served as a host to a Remembrance of the Dead ceremony for Dutch and German soldiers assigned the German army’s Rapid Forces Division (DSK) May 4. The annual ceremony commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War. About 150 DSK soldiers participated and paused for two minutes of silence as the Dutch flag flew at half-staff. The DSK – deployed to this Installation Management Command-Europe site for training during Exercise DEFENDER 21 -- is an airborne division of the German army.
