For Gold Star Spouses Day, Aberdeen Proving Ground honored APG Gold Star Spouses through a week-long series to tell the stories of its Gold Star community members. Learn the story of Joy Goode and her son, Fire Technician Second Class Keon Askew. Joy was surprised when her son told her that he wanted to join the Navy, but couldn't be more proud when he made the decision. FT2 Askew promised he'd go with his mother to Hawaii to have his favorite Big Kahuna Pizza but Joy would have to make the trip in his memory after his passing in 2002.
