Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division and the Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield community observe Reveille and Retreat, both traditional, short ceremonies that honor the raising and lowering of the national flag, daily across the installation.
When Reveille or Retreat begins, uniformed Service members salute the flag and civilians place a hand over their heart. Drivers and occupants of vehicles should stop their cars, step out, and render the correct honors throughout the duration of the music. These simple ceremonies mark the reverence of the community for national service and sacrifice.
