U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert D. Bowie, deputy commanding general for the inauguration, Joint Task Force National Capital Region, led troops during the pass-in-review ceremony as part of the 59th Presidential Inauguration ceremonies at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., Jan. 20, 2021. Brig. Gen. Bowie, who has served in the District of Columbia Air National Guard since 2001, was responsible for the oversight of all inaugural ceremonial support forces and coordination with the Presidential Inaugural Committee and Joint Congressional Committee for Inaugural Ceremonies. The National Guard has been requested to continue supporting federal law enforcement agencies with security, communications, medical evaluation, logistics and safety support to state, district and federal agencies through mid-March.
