Every two years, Ivy Soldiers participate in a grueling, week-long competition to obtain the Expert Infantryman/Soldier Badge. The events consist of land navigation, weapons qualifications, a 12-mile foot march, and various testing in lanes of individual Soldiering tasks. This year, out of 711 participants, only 85 passed the many trials. Each graduate was pinned either by Maj. Gen. Matthew McFarlane, the commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, or their loved ones, at Founders’ Field, Fort Carson, on October 16, 2020. (U.S. Army video by Spc.
