Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Tumey, a combat medic from the 18th Medical Command based at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, conducts warrior tasks and battle drills for the 2020 U.S. Army Best Warrior Competition Sept. 24, at Shafter Flats, Hawaii.
Toomey is competing for the title of Noncommissioned Officer of the Year against ten other NCOs and has mastered a series of benchmarks throughout the year to qualify for this Department of the Army Competition. Due to the COVID-19, this year's competition is held virtually with competitors competing at their home stations, and the competition will culminate with a virtual knowledge board presided over by the Sergeant Major of the Army.
