Gen. Michael X. Garrett, commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command, hosted the 1st Armored Division's change of command ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas July 28. Maj. Gen. Patrick E. Matlock relinquished command of the 1AD to Brig. Gen. Matthew L. Eichburg, who had previously served as the acting senior commander of 1AD and Fort Bliss while Matlock was deployed with nearly 250 1AD Soldiers in support of Operations Freedom's Sentinel and Resolute Support. Matlock departs 1AD to assume the position of the Assistant Chief of Staff C/J-3 Operations, United States Forces Korea, Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea.
