More than 100 Citizen Soldiers from the Delaware Army National Guard’s 198th Tactical Theater Signal Brigade arrived back to Delaware soil, after their year-long deployment to southwest Asia. The Signal Soldiers landed at Dover Air Force Base this afternoon, and were welcomed home by Gov. John Carney, Delaware Guard’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Michael Berry and other Guard leadership.
The Guardsmen were deployed to in August of last year provide command, control and supervision of the battlefield for combatant commanders while deployed.
The 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion has been around since the revolutionary days, but this is one of its largest single-unit deployments.
