The morning of June 25, 2020 an Airman from the 165th Airlift Wing, Air Support Operations Squadron pulled a man from a submerged vehicle after it crashed into the canal on Dean Forrest Rd. Staff Sgt. Cody Haffly saw distressed bystanders on the side of the road and pulled over. Haffly saw the submerged vehicle and learned there was a man still vehicle. Haffly got in the water, broke the back window of the vehicle and the victim expressed that he was having difficulty breathing. Haffly positioned the victim to ensure he was able to breathe and then assisted as Emergency Medical Crews made it to the scene. Staff Sgt. Cody Haffly's used his training as a firefighter and a tactical air control party member to get to the victim and treat him until EMS could arrive.
