200610-M-IR130-2001 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (June 10, 2020) Reconnaissance Marines assigned to the Maritime Raid Force, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), refine various mission capabilities during their pre-deployment training program and deployment. The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
