The 18th Wing stood up the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Kadena Air Base, Japan on March 14, 2020, to address the challenge of COVID-19 and to prioritize the health and well-being of our members and their families while ensuring mission readiness. The EOC includes subject matter experts from around the Wing who work together as a central hub to gather and distribute information and guidance to our forces and families seven days a week. The 18th Wing commander, along with other senior leaders from throughout the Wing, host two meetings daily with the fully-manned EOC to continuously assess health protection measures and discuss any necessary changes in guidelines or restrictions.
