Due to a lack of volunteers because of COVID-19, 11 North Carolina Army National Guardsmen planted cantaloupe, bell peppers and squash at Food Shuttle Farm, a farm that is part of Inner-Faith Food Shuttle, Raleigh, North Carolina, April 29, 2020. This produce will be donated to families in need in the greater Raleigh area. The Inner-Faith Food Shuttle recovers and distributes nearly 6 million pounds of food per year, and teaches skills for self-sufficiency including culinary job skills, shopping and cooking healthy on a budget, and how to grow food. More than 900 NCNG Soldiers and Airmen have been activated in response to COVID-19 relief efforts to help support NC Emergency Management, N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, and their local communities. (U.S. Army National Guard video by Sgt. Jamar Marcel Pugh, 382nd Public Affairs Detachment/Released)
