Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds directed the Iowa Department of Public Health along with the Iowa National Guard to establish regional medical coordination centers as part of ongoing preparation and response to COVID-19.
Members of the Iowa Air and Army National Guard are working with the Iowa Department of Public health at six RMCC operation sites that have been set up this week throughout the state. The RMCC site in Sioux City is located at the Iowa Air National Guard facility at the Sioux City Airport.
Video includes interview segments with Iowa Air National Guard Lt. Colonel Debbie Jacobsmeier who volunteered for state active duty. Jacobsmeier works full time for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
As a traditional member of the Iowa Air Guard, Jacobsmeire is the Medical Readiness Officer with 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa. While on state active duty Jacobsmeier is the Officer in charge Regional Medical Coordination Center or RMCC (region 3) in Sioux City.
The video also includes interview segments with Diane Williams from the Iowa Department of Public Health. Williams works as the Executive Officer of Emergency and Trauma Services. Williams is part of team of people from the Iowa Department of Public Heath who are helping facilitate a coordinated response with the Iowa Guard in response to COVID-19 in Iowa.
