A brief overview of some of the actions the Vermont National Guard is taking in response to the COVID-19 virus. Soldiers from the 40th Army Band, and the172nd Military Police Detachment have set up medical surge sites around the state to handle non-COVID-19 patients. The surge sites are located at the Barre Auditorium, the Collins-Perley Sports Center in St. Albans, and the Patrick Gymnasium at the University of Vermont. Soldiers from Charlie Company, (Medical) 186 Brigade Support Battalion, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain), set up a triage facility outside the University of Vermont Medical Center. The medics from C-Co. will assist university medical personnel in screening patients to determine the level of care they need.
