Petty Officer 2nd Class Nathan Newberg recounts how he rescued two people from the Golden Ray, a disabled cargo vessel that capsized in St. Simons Sound in Brunswick, Georgia, December 16, 2019. Newberg was meritoriously advanced from AST2 to AST1 by Admiral Karl L. Schultz, the commandant of the Coast Guard, at the 2020 State of the Coast Guard address.
