Service members, base personnel and family members throughout JBSA-Randolph lined up along Harmon Drive today to pay final tribute to U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Javier J. Gutierrez as his remains are transported to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Gutierrez was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Both Sgt. 1st Class Gutierrez and Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Rey Rodriguez died Feb. 8, 2020, as a result of wounds sustained while engaged in combat operations in Afghanistan.
