The Kingdom of Bhutan and United States conducted a Disaster Preparedness and Response training event in Thimphu Bhutan during November 2019.The U.S. and Bhutan have had some contact over the past decade to include US AID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service however this is the first time the U.S. Department of Defense will participate in any exchange. This event is structured around the Bhutanese Department of Disaster Management and will have participation from several agencies to include the Bhutanese military, police and other first responders. Working together to respond to natural disasters will allow us to develop an understanding of each other’s capabilities.
