U.S. Marines with 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, fill up the water for the shower and laundry at Hokudaien Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, Jan. 28, 2020. Despite being in the field, the "waterdogs", as their called, are able to purify and heat water to provide a a higher quality of life and increased sanitation. Northern Viper is a regularly scheduled training exercise that is designed to enhance the interoperability of the U.S. and Japan Alliance by allowing Marine Air-Ground Task Forces from III Marine Expeditionary Force to maintain their lethality and proficiency in MAGTF Combined Arms Operations in cold weather environments.
