The Coast Guard Daniel Tarr moored at Sector Field Office Galveston, Texas, during its commissioning ceremony Jan. 10, 2020. Daniel Tarr, the cutter’s namesake, was one of four Coast Guard coxswains awarded the Silver Star Medal for their heroic actions while serving with the Marines during the amphibious invasion of Tulagi, Solomon Islands, in August 1942.
