191212-N-OK547-1001 (Dec. 12, 2019) This is an animation of a birthday card from the namesake of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52), Commodore John Barry also known as the "father" of the U.S. Navy, used to celebrate the 27th birthday of the fourth ship of the name. The colors orange and green are meant to represent the Irish roots of Barry. Barry was commissioned in Pascagoula, Mississippi and christened by her sponsor Rose Cochran, wife of Senator Thad Cochran. Barry is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy's largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet's principal surface force.
